How to Calculate Your SFU GPA

Calculating your SFU GPA is straightforward using Simon Fraser University's 4.33-point grading scale. Your GPA is the weighted average of all your course grades, weighted by credit hours. The formula is:

GPA = Sum(Credits x Grade Points) / Sum(Credits)

SFU Grading Scale Explained

Simon Fraser University uses a 4.33-point grading scale. The highest grade is A+ at 4.33 grade points, and the lowest passing grade is D at 1.00 grade point. An F grade is 0.00 and is assigned for failing work. SFU also uses P (Pass) and N (No Credit) grades for certain courses, but these are not included in your GPA calculation.

SFU Academic Standing Requirements

To maintain good academic standing at SFU, you must keep a CGPA of 2.00 or higher and complete at least 67% of your attempted credits. If your term GPA drops below 2.00 while your CGPA is still above 2.00, you receive an Academic Warning. If your CGPA drops below 2.00, you are placed on Academic Probation.

The Dean List at SFU recognizes academic excellence - students with a term GPA of 3.50 or higher while taking at least 12 credits are eligible.
